Application
This nickel/iron-based product with a bimetallic core is designed for welding and repairing cast irons, emphasizing a high-quality deposit, superior mechanical characteristics, and excellent aesthetics. With its elevated nickel content, the deposit is highly tenacious and suitable for joining cast iron with steel. Main applications include repair and maintenance of machine tool bases, engine blocks, and eliminating casting defects in pumps, cylinders, and pistons. To prevent cracks, it is recommended to use small beads and hammering during application. The deposit's excellent resistance to cracking and easy workability makes it suitable for the meticulous restoration of machine tool bases, engine blocks, casting defects, pumps, and cylinders.
Alloy Type
Electrode with basic-graphite coating with bimetallic core in Fe-Ni.
Microstructure
The structure depends on the chemical composition and the speed of solidification and subsequent cooling down.
Materials
Particularly suitable for cold welding of all types of cast iron, in particular spheroidal, white and black cast iron and malleable cast iron, and for joining cast iron with steel.
Welding & PWHT
Remove the casting skin in the weld area through machining, grinding, chipping, or other appropriate methods. When addressing casting defects, ensure meticulous removal of any defective metal to reach sound base metal before initiating the welding process. Use suitable solvents to eliminate oil, grease, dirt, or any other foreign material. In cases where the casting is impregnated with oil, grease, or solvents, apply heat to the welding area until volatilization ceases, typically around 400°C. For castings with excessive grease, consider flash heating welding surfaces to approximately 540°C to drive off the grease in a gaseous state. While preheating is not always obligatory, it is frequently employed. Preheat within the range of 200-350℃, recommend gradual cooling after welding, and maintain an interpass temperature between 350 ° - 450 ° to prevent welding cracks. In the context of large castings, intermittent welding may occasionally be desirable to achieve a more even temperature distribution, ensuring that the casting remains warm to the touch without reaching excessive temperatures.
